Central Falls is a rapid on Deep River, somewhere in the vicinity of Old Liberty Road bridge in the community Central Falls, near Asheboro. A wooden dam here powered a cotton mill built in 1881. A mill stands just below the bridge on river right, but I don't know if any part of it is from the original mill.¹²⁶

The Central Falls rapid and any remains from the old dam are flooded under the backwater of Cox Lake Dam, which stands a short distance downstream.
