Glassmine Falls
!
From Glassmine Falls Overlook, you can look across the gorge of North Fork Swannanoa River to view the waterfall on the opposite mountainside. Well, sometimes you can. Glassmine Falls is nearly intermittent. I’ve never seen it completely dry up, but much of the time you’ll need binoculars just to tell the rock is wet.
In winter and early spring, especially after a good rain, it’s a nice sight and complements the overall mountain view well. During high water, the beauty rating is much higher, but those conditions don’t last long. You need to be there while it’s raining.
