The following river disturbances are mentioned in Mark Chilton’s wiki on PBworks, “Historical Sites Along the Deep River in the Piedmont of North Carolina.”¹²⁶ Stout Shoal is about a half mile upstream of the NC 42 bridge in Coleridge. The other three are within approximately 4 miles downstream of the bridge.

Stout Shoal. The river falls 8 feet in 300 yards.
Silers Shoal. The river falls 20 feet in a quarter mile.
Moons Shoal. The river falls about 6 feet in 300 yards.
Gardners Shoal. The river falls 10 feet in a half mile.
