For those who appreciate all waterfalls, here’s a special treat. North of Durham, of all places, is a beautiful woods reminiscent of Uwharrie Mountains. A nature trail winds through, passing alongside a small, scenic stream that has two waterfalls. Yes, they’re small, but they’re legitimate. (Well, I guess if you’re one who thinks a waterfall is not a waterfall unless it’s 10 feet high, then only one of these is legitimate.)

Regardless of how you classify a waterfall, this one is rare for this region. It’s thirsty, though. Visit during times of normal or low flow and you might not be impressed, although the hike will still be rewarding. This one is best seen after heavy rain.

Some may question the beauty rating. Location affects my ratings and I think this one definitely deserves a good grade. If it were in the mountains, well.
