Cedar Rock Falls
!
In The Land of Waterfalls, Jim Bob Tinsley includes a Cedar Rock Falls on Cedar Rock Creek, which flows into Catheys Creek a short distance upstream from Catheys Creek Falls.138 (Don’t confuse this with the Cedar Rock Creek that flows into Davidson River near the fish hatchery.) Tinsley says the waterfall is “a series of ten or twelve drops, slips, and spills in heavy foliage and rugged terrain where Mica mine Branch joins Cedar Rock Creek.”
I hiked along this creek in the early 1990s and didn’t find any cascades worth mentioning at the time, much less any significant waterfalls. Perhaps I might have a different take on it now, but this one is far down the list of places to revisit. If you check it out, please let me know what you find.
Cedar Rock Creek is a few miles west of Brevard.
