Even if you aren’t a fan of sliding waterfalls, you have to admit that Drift Falls is impressive. Long, wide, tallish, steep, and with the large flow of Horsepasture River sliding into a huge pool—nice! You can view it okay from a short distance downstream, but you can’t go up to the edge of the pool without trespassing. More on that below.

It’s impossible to talk about Drift Falls without mentioning several other waterfalls close by. On the trail to Drift, you pass a side path that provides access to Stairway Falls and Sidepocket Falls. A little farther along is a side path (sort of) leading to Waterfall on tributary 1 of Horsepasture River. A little farther along the trail is the short side path to Hidden Falls. Upstream from Hidden is the incomparable Rainbow Falls, which is a very short distance downstream from Turtleback Falls. A little above Turtleback is Drift Falls. I’ll be mentioning all these to some extent on this page.
