Balsam Falls is a pretty little waterfall with a nice, large pool. And for those who don’t mind the rough trail and steep scramble down the bank to the base, it’s fairly easy to reach. You’ll pass by Balsam Lake Dam on the way to the falls, the lake and dam providing a nice bonus for the hike.

The waterfall is the first of four very nice waterfalls on Wolf Creek: Balsam Falls, Lower Balsam Falls, Patricia Falls, and Lauren Falls. Since many people who come here also visit these other falls on the same hike, I’m giving info for all four falls in Hiking Directions, plus a little for the two waterfalls on a side stream below Lauren Falls.
